Home Sweet Home

Thu Jun 5, 2008

Allow me to introduce myself. My name's Alexander William Gaskarth, and I sing and play guitar in the Maryland-based pop-punk band, All Time Low. Some of you may know me already, some of you may not. So I figured I'd kick this whole thing off as politely as possible — greetings and welcome to my world.

I've been asked to give you guys a peek into what's going on behind-the-scenes in my life while we're home for the majority of the following month, but before I do, let's recap on what just went down over the past couple of weeks.

At 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 1st, I arrived at Washington-Dulles Airport after a phenomenal tour over in Europe, where we hit up four festivals and co-headlined a club run with our friends in the band Cobra Starship. Words don't describe how amazing it feels to have taken this group from playing at high school parties, to festivals across the Atlantic Ocean like Give it a Name in the UK and Groezrock in Belgium. It really goes to show that dreams don't always have to exist while the sun's down and your eyes are shut.

Anyway, we're back now for some time at home, (we've been on tour pretty consistently since January now), and I've gotta say that we couldn't have picked a better month to stay back and write some new jams. As I sit here typing this blog, the birds are singing, my puppy's laying around in a state of euphoria, and the weather is kickin' — it's very inspiring to someone who's in the midst of trying write for an upbeat record.

There's a lot about to go down with this band — I can feel it, and I suggest you stay tuned to find out exactly what that is in the coming weeks. In the mean time, I have to pee, so I'm gonna go take care of that.

Can't wait to see what the future brings — hopefully, it isn't kidney stones.

Love, AWG
